About Ruth: A Play
Ruth: A Play is a play in verse that presents the Biblical story of Ruth, told from the vantage points of the prophet Samuel and David, soon to be anointed as king of Israel (1 Samuel 16). The story told by Samuel describes how Ruth, the Moabite widow of an Israelite, came to Israel with her mother-in-law, Naomi, also a widow. Though Ruth was a foreigner, she was a faithful daughter-in-law and ultimately married a relative of her late husband by Levitical “redemption”, becoming a direct ancestor of David. The play is in four acts suitable for a small theater.
